At Meriwether & Tharp, our retainers for divorces range from $750 for the simplest divorce with no children to $5,000. The amount of the retainer depends upon our initial assessment of the work that needs to be done in a short amount of time. Cases in which one party has already filed a divorce action require a higher retainer because there are often procedural and deadline issues an attorney will have to deal with in a fairly quick manner, depending on the nature of the case.
